திருமுழுக்கு: பழக்கமான சடங்கல்ல......பணியின் முதற்படி!!!

கிறிஸ்துவில் பிரியமுள்ளவர்களே

உங்கள் அனைவருக்கும் இயேசுவின் திருமுழுக்கு திருநாளின் வாழ்த்துக்கள். நம் ஒவ்வொருவரின் திருமுழுக்கை இன்றைய நாள் நம்முன் கொணர்ந்து நம் அழைப்பை நம் வாழ்வை நம் ஈடுபாட்டை புதுப்பித்துக்கொள்ள இன்றைய திருவிருந்து கொண்டாட்டத்தில் இணைவோம்.

ஏன் பிறசபைகளுக்கு சென்று திருமுழுக்குபெறுகிறீர்கள்? என்ற கேள்விக்கு வந்த பதில்கள். ஒன்று அறியா சிறுபருவத்திலே கொடுக்கப்பட்ட திருமுழுக்கு செல்லாது மற்றும் அர்த்தம் இல்லாதது. மேலும் இயேசுவே 30வயதிலேதான் அதுவும் யோர்தான் நதியிலே மூழ்கி திருமுழுக்கு பெற்றார். எனவே அவர் பாதையிலே அவர் செய்தது போல அவரைப்பின்பற்றும் இச்சபையிலே மூழ்கி திருமுழுக்கு பெற்றால்தான் முழுமை அடைவோம் என்றார்கள்.

இதுதான் உண்மையா? இதற்காக தான் இயேசு 30வயதிலே திருமுழுக்கு பெற்றாரா? பாவமில்லா அவர் ஏன் திருமுழுக்கு பெறவேண்டும்?
யோவானோ அல்லது இயேசுவோ திருமுழுக்கை உருவாக்கவில்லை மாறாக யூதர்கள் மத்தியில் நூற்றாண்டுகளாக ஒப்புரவுசெயலாக பாவத்தின் கழுவாயாக பழக்கத்திலிருந்தது. கி.பி 70ல் எருசலேம் வீழ்ச்சிவரை யூதமக்கள் தண்ணீர் சேருமிடம் என்ற ஒரு குளத்திலே ஆன்மிக சுத்தப்படுத்துதல் என்ற சடங்கின் மூலம் தங்கள் பாவஙக்ளிலிருந்து கறைகளிலிருந்து சுத்தப்படுத்திக்கொண்டனர். ஆண்கள் ஓய்வ நாளிலிலும் பெண்கள் மாதத்திற்கு ஒருமுறையும் இச்சுத்தப்படுத்தும் சடங்கைசெய்தனர். யூதமதத்தை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளவதற்கு முன்பும் இச்சடங்கானது பின்பற்றப்பட்டது. பராம்பரிய யூதர்கள் இன்றும் இப்பழக்கத்தை பின்பற்றுகின்றனர்.

யூதர்களின் இச்சடங்கானது தொடர்ந்து நடைபெற்றது ஆனால் அர்த்தமில்லாது பாவவாழ்க்கை தொடர்ந்தது. இது ஒரு வெறும் சடங்காகவே இருந்தது. திருழுழுக்கு யோவானும் இதைநிறைவேற்றிக்கொண்டிருக்க இயேசுவின் வருகை அங்கு புதிய மற்றும் பெரிய மாற்றத்தை ஏற்படுத்துகிறது. நிறைவான உண்மையான அர்த்தத்தைபெற்றுத்தருகிறது. இயேசுவின் திருழுமுக்கு நமக்கு மூன்று உண்மைகளை எடுத்துரைக்கிறது:

 திருமுழுக்கு – பணிவாழ்வின் முதற்படி
 திருமுழுக்கு – குறைகளில் கறைகளில் நோயில் இருந்த மக்களோடு பாவமற்ற இயேசுவின் ஒன்றிப்பு
 திருமுழுக்கு – அன்பார்ந்த மகன் என தந்தையின் வெளிப்படையான ஏற்பு.

திருமுழுக்கு – பணிவாழ்வின் முதற்படி: இயேசு 30 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு பிறகு முடிவு எடுக்கின்றார் உறுதியாக அர்பணிக்கின்றார். தன்பணி மக்களுக்காக இல்லாமையில் இயலாமையில் உழலுகின்ற மக்களோடு இணைவதே ஈடுபடுவதே கரைவதே அதுவே பணிவாழ்வு என அடையாளமாக யோர்தானிலே திருமுழுக்கு வழியாக மூழ்குவதன் மூலம் நான் உங்களுடைய வாழ்வோடு உங்களாடு மூழ்க கரைய ஈடுபட பணியாற்ற முதற்படியை எடுத்துவைக்கின்றேன். இதுவே என் பணியின் துவக்கம் ஆரம்பம் என வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார். கிரேக்க மொழியில் திருமுழுக்கு என்பது மூழ்குவது கரைவது என்பதாகும். குணப்படுத்தும் - அறிவிக்கும் - படிப்பிக்கும் பணியில் முதற்படியை எடுத்துரைக்கிறார். நம்முடைய திருமுழுக்கும் நம்மை திருச்சபையின் முதற்பணி படிக்கு அழைக்கிறது. திருச்சபையின் ஒர் அங்கம் என்ற நிலை திருச்சபைக்காக நான் பணியாற்ற வேண்டும் என்பதையே எடுத்துரைக்கிறது. பெற்றோரும் ஞான பெற்றோரும் கடமைக்காக அருட்சாதனத்தை கொடுத்தோம் பெயர் வைத்தோம் வசதியான ஞானபெற்றோரை தேர்ந்தெடுத்தோம் எல்லாம் முடிந்துவிட்டது என இல்லாமல் குழந்தையின் சிறுவயதுமுதலே பணியில் ஈடுபட செயல்பட நாம் முன்மாதிரியாக இருந்து சாட்சிபகரவேண்டும்.

 திருமுழுக்கு – குறைகளில் கறைகளில் நோயில் இருந்த மக்களோடு பாவமற்ற இயேசுவின் ஒன்றிப்பு. பாவமற்ற இயேசுவுக்கு திருமுழுக்கு தேவையா என்பதைவிட நம்பாவங்களை கழுவ நம் குறைகளை போக்க நம் கறைகளை அகற்ற நம்மேர்டு இணைந்து நம்மில் ஒருவராக ஒன்றிக்கவே பாவமற்றஇயேசு திருழுழுக்கின் வழியாக நம்மில் - நம்மேர்டு உறவுகொண்டார். யூத வழக்கத்தில் யூதமறையை ஏற்க வந்த பிறஇனத்தவர்க்கு மட்டும் திருமுழுக்கின் கழுவாய் சுத்தப்படுத்துதல் தேவை கடவுளால் தோந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட மக்களாகிய தங்களுக்கு தேவையில்லை என்று பிரித்து வேறுபடுத்தி வாழ்ந்த சூழலில் இயேசு திருமுழுக்கின் வழியாக அனைத்து பிரிவினைகளை வேறுபாடுகளை உடைத்து தொழுகைக்கூடங்கள் - செபக்கூடங்கள் - பொதுஇடங்கள் - இல்லங்கள் - பாவிகள் - நோயுற்றோர் -பெண்கள் -குழந்தைகளேர்டு ஈடுபடுவதன் ஒன்றிப்பதன் வழியாக திருமுழுக்கு நம்மை சமமாக சகோதரமாக ஒரே தந்தையின் அன்பு பிள்ளைகளாக்குகிறது என்பதை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார். எங்கிருந்தாலும் எப்படியிருந்தாலும் நாம் ஒரே தந்தையின் பிள்ளைகள் என ஆனந்தம் அடைவோம்.

 திருமுழுக்கு – அன்பார்ந்த மகன் என தந்தையின் வெளிப்படையான ஏற்பு. இயேசுவின் திருமுழுக்கிலும் நம்முடைய திருமுழுக்கிலும் பல்வேறு அர்த்தமுள்ள அடையாளங்கள் இருப்பதை நாம் காண்கிறோம். தண்ணீர் - எண்ணெய் - வெள்ளைத்துணி – பாஸ்காதிரி-எண்ணெய் பூசுதல் - கழுவுதல் போன்ற அனைத்து அடையாள செயல்களும் தந்தையின்ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளுதலையும் மற்றும் தூய ஆவியின் இணையான துணையையும் உறுதிப்படுத்துகின்றன. தண்ணீரில் கழுவுதல் அல்லது மூழ்குதல் பாவத்திலிருந்து சுத்தப்படுத்துலை மட்டுமல்ல மாறாக உயிரோட்டமுள்ள தண்ணீர் தரும் உயிருள்ள செயல்பாட்டையும் வெளிப்படுத்துகிறது. நோவா தண்ணீரில் உயிருள்ள வாழ்வை திரும்பபெற்றார். – மோசே பாறையிலிருந்து தண்ணீர்பெற்று மக்களின் வாழ்வை உயிரோட்டடுள்ளதாக்கினார் - இஸ்ராயேல் மக்கள் விடுதலையின் புதுஉயிரைபெற்றது செங்கடல் தண்ணீரை கடந்தபொழுது. நம்மில் அந்த உயிரோட்டம் புதுவாழ்வு இருக்கிறதா?

இயேசுவின் திருமுழுக்கு திருவிழா நம்மையும் பணிவாழ்வுக்கு அழைத்துசெல்லட்டும். மற்றவர்களோடு ஒன்றிக்க வழிநடத்தட்டும். பங்கி;ல் மற்றும் சமூகத்தில் எந்த குழுவில் எந்த செயல்பாட்டில் நான் என்னையே ஈடுபடுத்திகொண்டிருக்கின்றேன்?

எப்படிப்பபட்ட மக்களோடு நான் என்னை அடையாளப்படுத்தி ஒன்றிக்கின்றேன்?

240-312கி.பி ல் வாழ்ந்த அந்தியோக்கை சார்ந்த லூசியன் என்ற கிறிஸ்தவ மறைசாட்சி சொன்னது – திருழுமுக்குபெற்ற கிறிஸ்தவனின் ஒரேஉறவு புனிதர்களே புனிதர்களின் குடும்பத்தில் விண்ணகத்திலும் மண்ணகத்திலும் ஒன்றிப்பதே திருமுழுக்காகும் என்றார். பின்டோ என்ற தம்பதியர் துயரத்திலும் மற்றும் ஒன்றுமறியா நிலைகுலைந்துயிருந்தனர். காரணம் பிறந்த குழந்தை இரண்டுவாரத்தில் இருதய அறுவைசிகிச்சைக்கு செல்லவேண்டும் என்ற மருத்துவரின் வார்த்தைகளே அதற்கு காரணம். ஆடம்பரமாக சடங்காக வீட்டில் கொண்டாடவேண்டும் திருமுழுக்கை என்று நினைத்தவர்கள் என்னிடம் கேட்டது எங்கள்குழந்தைக்கு மருத்துவமனையில் திருமுழுக்கு கொடுப்பீர்களா என்று. ஏன் அறுவை சிகிச்சைக்கு முன்பு திருமுழுக்கு கேட்கிறீர்கள் என்று நான்கேட்டேன் அவர்கள் சொன்னார்கள் எங்கள் குழந்தை இறைவனின் குழந்தையாகவேண்டும் திருழுழுக்கு தண்ணீரால் உயிரோட்டம் பெறவேண்டும் ஆபத்தான அறுவைசிகிச்சையில் இறைத்தந்தை குழந்தையை கரங்களில் பாதுகாப்பார் என்றார்கள். திருமுழுக்கும் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது 11மணிநேர அறுவைசிகிச்சைக்குபிறகு குழந்தை குணம்பெற்று கொண்டிருக்கிறது.
முதற் படியை எடுத்துவைக்க பணியில் ஒன்றிக்க நான்தயாரா-ஆமென்.

Baptism….Called to Begin…& to be with People …!!!
Is42:1-4, 6-7 Acts10:34-38, Lk3:15-16. 21-22

Dear Sisters and brothers in Christ Jesus, I wish you A Great feast of the Baptism of our Lord Jesus to all, and May the Lord renew our Baptismal call and promises during this Eucharistic celebration. Today is the last Sunday of the great Christmas season, so we shall re-live the joy of Christmas today.

Johnny's Mother looked out the window and noticed him "playing church" with their cat. He had the cat sitting quietly and he was preaching to it. She smiled and went about her work. After some time, she heard loud meowing and hissing and ran back to the open window to see Johnny baptizing the cat in a tub of water. She called out, "Johnny, stop that! The cat is afraid of water!" Johnny looked up at her and said, "He should have thought about that before he joined my church."
Ann said, I was forced to be baptized without my knowledge as a baby; I did not know anything at all, so I am going to be baptized willingly in this denomination, I will be immersed like Jesus, this is going to be true baptism. What will be your response to Ann?
I was blamed by the chaplain of another denomination for not baptizing the still born baby, he said, you Catholics refuse to Baptize the victims of fatal demise, you don’t have mercy.
Why we don’t baptize the dead? Why did sinless Jesus need baptism? Why did Jesus wait 30years to be baptized?

Neither John nor Jesus invented baptism. It had been practiced for centuries among the Jews as a ritual equivalent to our Confession. Until the fall of the Temple in 70 A.D., it was common for Jewish people to use a special pool called a MIKVEH -- literally a "collection of water" – as a means of spiritual cleansing, to remove spiritual impurity and sin. Men took this bath weekly on the eve of the Sabbath; women, monthly. Converts were also expected to take this bath before entering Judaism. The Orthodox Jews still retain the rite. Jews and people entering Judaism received baptism by cleansing of water but this ritual continued without any implication and change in their life. John preached that such a bath was a necessary preparation for the deluge that would be wrought by the coming Messiah. Jesus transformed this continuing ritual into the one single, definitive act by which we begin our life of faith. In effect, he fused his divine essence with the water and the ceremony. Baptism gets a new meaning through the baptism of Jesus.

Here Jesus Baptism reveals three elements or messages:

• Baptism is the beginning step to plunge in to ministry and mission.
• Baptism led sinless Jesus to identify with the sinners, sick and common people.
• Baptism proved the recognition of the Father, as His beloved son.

Now we know that still born children are not baptized because sacrament of baptism should lead one to active ministry and mission. It is baptism of life. Secondly Jesus waited 30years to be baptized to begin and plunge in to the life of the people through baptism. Our word baptize comes from the Greek word baptize in meaning to dip, immerse or wash (usually in water).

• Baptism is the beginning step to plunge in to ministry and mission. Baptism should lead one to begin his or her mission and ministry in the church, in the world, in the society and in the in community. Baptism is the beginning step for action. It involves decision and conviction. Jesus decides to enter in to the lives of people. He is convinced to do the ministry of healing, teaching and preaching of good news. Entering or immersing in the Jordan River signifies the entry of Jesus as He began to immerse in to the lives of the people. We enter in to the membership of Church through our baptism, if we are baptized as infants, it is the responsibility of parents and God parents to lead and guide the child to mission of the church through their life witness.
• Baptism led sinless Jesus to identify with the sinners, sick and common people. The Jews had the traditional belief that only the Gentiles who embraced the Jewish religion needed the baptism of repentance, for, as God's chosen people, the Jewish race was holy. Here Jesus breaks the bondage of division and separation. He finds solidarity with the ordinary and the simple life of the people, in the synagogue, in the market place and in their houses. He identifies with the children, women, suffering and needy. This gives the message that baptism makes us as children of one God our Father.
• Baptism proved the recognition of the Father, as His beloved son. We have lots of symbols and gestures at baptism of Jesus and in our sacrament of baptism today. Water, oil, cloth, Pascal Light, anointing and washing signifies the support and acceptance of Father and companionship of the Holy Spirit. Father recognizes and accepts as His beloved son openly on this great day. Dipping, immersing and cleansing of the water not only symbolizes cleansing from sins rather it tells strongly about the waters of life, Deluge water gave life to Noah, Moses got waters of life from the rock for the people, People Israel crossed Read Sea towards liberation of new life. So Baptismal water not only cleanses, purifies and forgives us but also makes us to realize life of faith within us.

So sacrament of baptism should lead us to begin our mission and to be one with the people. Because, we are filled with waters of life and with active spirit of fire. Baptism is not to run away to other churches and denomination with our identity or remain passive rather it is a call for active participation. Pope Benedict, mentions in his Jesus of Nazareth, "Looking at the events in light of the Cross and Resurrection, the Christian people realized what happened: Jesus loaded the burden of all mankind's guilt upon his shoulders, he bore it down into the depths of the Jordan...He is, as it were, the true Jonah who said to the crew of the ship, 'Take me and throw me into the sea.'" Jon 1:12
Lucian of Antioch (240-312 AD), an early Christian martyr once said that "a Christian's only relatives are the saints" –Those who have been baptized into Jesus Christ and who live as his disciples enter into a new family, a family of "saints" here on earth and in heaven.

Mr and Mrs Pinto were shocked and saddened to learn that their new born baby needs open heart surgery with in few weeks for survival and they know it is a risk involved surgery. They cancelled their plan of Celebration of Baptism in their house and wanted Baptism in the hospital before surgery. When I asked in the midst of fear and sadness what made them to decide for baptism before the surgery, they responded saying, Baptism is a call to be God’s child, and God will sustain the life in our child through Baptism. Shall we realize the life, participation and mission in our baptismal call- Amen.
